Intentions Not Resolutions & The Social Media Trap

There has been quite a lot of talk surrounding New Year's resolutions. Last year, I wrote about how my only resolution was to manage my difficult feelings in a healthier way (here). This year, I want to continue this path of emotional growth and management but do it in a way that is more compatible with what I need right now, which is kindness.

I had a blast putting it together, and I really hope you find it helpful. Make sure you order everything within the next few days to ensure that the items arrive before the holiday festivities commence.

Mantras + Mom Jeans

This weekend turned out to be a downward spiraling mess. If you saw my Instagram stories yesterday, then you know that I have 7 campaigns to shoot THIS weekend. We couldn't shoot in the house yesterday like I had planned because it was snowing and there was absolutely no natural light (meaning that it was too dark to get quality photos). Due to bad lighting, we tried to change the game plan and head to a local Christmas Tree nursery.  The first place we went to was the furthest thing from a Christmas tree lot. It was more like a big dirt pile with planted fruit trees without leaves. Once we determined that it was not going to work to shoot there, our choices were to either turn around and go back home and say forget it or try to get to another place. The next spot that we knew about was another 30 minutes away. We had already been in the car for 20 minutes and my gut told me that it was going to be too far for Winter and that she would get carsick. But, I also knew that the deadlines were piling up and that we had to at least try to knock some stuff off our list.

The Best Darn Pair of Overalls Ever

So remember when I said I shot a pair of overalls and then left sans overalls in the bathroom of a coffee shop? WELL, these are that pair. Thank god the owner and his girlfriend at Luna Rose General Stores in Denver are saints and saved them for me! I was freaking out. Like who leaves overalls at a coffee shop? Apparently, I do!

Trunk Club: Winter is Coming

Last month,  I decided to give Nordstrom's Trunk Club a shot (you can read my initial review, here). Trunk Club is a personalized styling service that sends you clothes right to your doorstep.

I liked it so much that I continued the service and just received my second trunk. My stylist,  Jennifer, is excilent and I feel like she nails my style! I asked her to include a few pairs of jeans and fun and cozy sweaters. I am so ready for cooler temperatures and all the snow!

Here is what came in my trunk this time.

The Best Wrap Dress For Fall

I love the smell of the crisp autumn air, the leaves changing and blowing in the wind, and last but not least, all the fall dresses. This dress is from Vida Moulin, a boutique from my hometime, Phoenix. I wore it this past weekend to a wedding, and it made for the BEST dancing dress. Perry and I had a blast dancing, and I loved how the light weight of this dress made it easy for me to twirl around and salsa dance.

Top Fall Fashion Trends

So if your an influencer, you'll want to know about this app called Popular Pays, which is a platform that connects brands with stories to tell and the content creators who'll help them say it (like me!). It's where I get the majority of paying collaborations. And if you're not an influencer, just disregard this first paragraph :)

Well, the other day, I had the opportunity to shoot with Marshalls. It was one of those "pinch me" moments. When they accepted my entry for the campaign, I about fell out of my seat. The either picked you to feature home decor or fashion for the gig and they decided that I was to focus on style. They sent me a long list of this year's top fashion trends + styling tips, and I thought that they were so good, that I wanted to share it with you all.

The Significance Of My Tattoos

I got my first tattoo when I was 18. I have always loved them and kinda thought I would end up with a sleeve or married to someone with a lot of tattoos. Turns out, I didn’t get as many tattoos as I thought I would and Perry doesn’t have a single one! There was a moment when I thought he might get one. It was right after we got married and were traveling in southeast Asia. He got a rash underneath his wedding ring. It bothered him so much and he teased me that he was allergic to marriage, saying that he may end up getting a ring tattoo. Within a few weeks, the rash cleared up and I haven’t heard a peep about a tattoo since.

Stepping Out Of My Comfort Zone

Winter is getting to the age where she doesn't always want to be in front of the camera. It takes so much work to constantly build content, answer emails, and connect with others. While my blog is mainly centered around my experience as a mother, I need to respect the wants and needs of my child and keep her best interest in the forefront of my heart. Now, Brittany and I NEVER make Winter do anything that she doesn't want to do. However, it does get stressful at times when we have, say, 4 products  or concepts to shoot in one day. And while I am not complaining, because I would rather have too much work than none, it's a delicate balance to be a motherhood blogger. It's a huge decision to not only document your life as an adult but to also capture your child's upbringing on a weekly basis. I have more to say about this on a later date.

A Fashion Service Must Have For a Mama's Night

Perry teases me because I tend to be at tad bit indecisive. One minute I talk about cashing in on our house and moving to Argentina and the next I am discussing my plans to pop the top in our current home and stay here forever. While I think my indecisiveness drives my husband crazy, I know that it can be good when it comes to consumerism, especially when it comes to buying big ticket items. Being indecisive makes you push the pause button and really think about your choices. So actually, Perry should be thanking me because I am virtually saving us money any time I can’t decide on what to buy, haha.

Well, it's official. We are going to Hawaii this summer and we couldn't be more excited. The travel day is about 10 hours from Colorado to Hawaii (including one layover). We have made several airplane trips with Winter since she has been born and have definitely learned what keeps her busy without the use of screen-time.

Take a peak at the list below to view my favorite tried and true travel toys for toddlers.

Raising Money for PPD & Promoting Sustainable Consumerism with Ziraffe

Next month is National Mental Health awareness month and after experiencing my own struggle with depression/OCD I wanted to help bring light to this topic in every way that I can. Over the next month, I will be highlighting ways that you can get involved to #normalizePPD. This post features my new friends Ziraffe, who are helping me to raise money to donate to a charity I believe in with my whole being. It’s alarming that “1 in 5 Americans will be affected by a mental health condition in their lifetime and every American is affected or impacted through their friends and family” so keep reading to learn more about Ziraffe and how you too can get involved.
