Baby Massage
This past weekend, some of my friends and I took a baby massage class from the Colorado School of Healing Arts. I've been interested in learning new ways to soothe and connect with Winter so when this opportunity arose I quickly jumped on it. Plus, it was free!! Winter decided that she didn't want to nap before the class so she was a bit of a wiggle mess. The instructor kept laughing at her and reassured me that they would send me home with step-by-step guidelines so that we could practice when she seemed more interested. While the guide is fabulous, I would highly encourage you to take a class. I know that I always tend to absorb wayyyy more knowledge when I can ask teacher's questions.
One thing I really liked about the class is that you are supposed to rub your hands together in front of their face to warm them up while asking the baby if you can massage them. As adults, we seem to forget that babies have boundaries too. It was interesting to think about respecting them by asking them for permission at such a young age. While it seems a little silly, I hope that by doing so I am teaching Winter that she is always in charge of body.
Let me know if you give it a try and tell me what you think! Click the link below to get the handbook.
