My Breastfeeding Journey Coming to a Close

Lennon is starting to wean and is really only nursing in the morning and before bed. It’s such a bitter-sweet time for me because I am truly honored to nurse him, but I am also ready to wean. I am ready to end the chapter of baby making, baby growing, baby birthing and baby nursing. I don’t take any of these experiences for granted even for a minute, but I do look forward to moving on from this stage of life.

Whenever my babies stop nursing and begin to explore more solids, there is a particular level of stress I feel when it comes to making sure they are well cared for nutritionally.

I laughed when I found this letterboard quote on Pinterest “Why does cooking take like 6 hours and eating like 3 seconds and washing dishes like 7 days and 7 nights?”

Meal time in general can often feel rushed and for good reason. I mean, there is always stuff to do: the morning hustle, school drop off, work, and grocery shopping, etc. I often hear other moms (and myself included) that deal with unnecessary stress about feeding littles.

With my oldest daughter, Winter, I stressed a lot about food when she weaned. She was a bit of a particular eater so making sure she was getting enough nutrients brought about some anxiety for me. I had to learn to trust that we were providing her with every opportunity for health, and learn to not sweat the times when all the kid would eat was bread, more bread and oh did I say bread?

With Lennon, I told myself that I would stop stressing and ease some of my anxiety by finding products that would help me feed my kids with confidence. Enter Kabrita. They are a 100% women-run company led by a Mom. I love that their products are made with goat milk and it’s something that I feed to both Winter and Lennon, especially when we are on the go or crunched for time.

Lennon eats the porridge for breakfast and we even bake with it by putting it in our muffins. The formula is a great cow milk alternative, and can be used as a nutritional boost when you are weaning or supplementing. The snack puffs are a must have for school lunches or on the go. As you can clearly see, Winter loves her puffs.

Goat milk has always been a bit of a trade secret among moms. It is known for its naturally easy-to-digest properties. My grandma used to give us goat milk and I am so excited to see it coming to market. Kabrita products contain no added sugar, are rich in calcium, good fats and protein, and all ingredients are grown in Holland. Goat milk is easy-to-digest because the milk protein forms a smaller, softer, and looser curd in the tummy, leading to quick and easy digestion.

So Mama, I’d love to know, when did your little ones stop nursing and have you tried any goat milk products before?
