13-Week Bump Update
Hello, 2nd trimester and sayonara, all day nausea! I am finally starting to feel human again. I am so eager to document this pregnancy as it will likely be our last. I plan to do weekly or bi-weekly bump updates where you can find all the details on what's going on with me physically and emotionally, as well as give you some inside tips on my go-to fashion and product must-haves while growing this little bean.
I am partnering with Comfortiva to show you a few shoes from their spring/summer line. First up, these are beautiful gladiator sandals which I will go into more detail below. So let's begin the Q & A, shall we?! Oh, and side note, this wall that says Dairy Block cracked us up because as we were shooting Perry was joking that this is going to be my nickname once my milk comes in (hehe!).
Baby LaRock Bump Update
How Far Along Are You?
I am 13 weeks, and just had my respective check-up. Baby's heartbeat was sounding strong! Do any of you believe that you can tell the gender by the rate of the heartbeat? I always think it's fun to guess. Baby's heart rate was 188 at our 9-week appointment and then 166 at our 13-week one.
How Do You Feel Physically? Emotionally?
I have had three good days in a row. And when I mean three good days, what I mean is that I still threw up every day but once I have, the nausea subsides and I can be a productive member of society. I have had two massive migraines so far. One I swear was caused by an Uber ride. The car wreaked of cigarette smoke. I don't know why I didn't say anything or just get out of the car! Uhh, so gross.
Emotionally, I just feel so dang grateful. I have been a little tearful at times, but mainly I felt really at ease and balanced.
My go-to outfit right now?
I am experiencing some ligament pain and my knees and ankles are feeling weak from all the relaxin surging through my body. I have noticed that there are only a few pairs of shoes that I am wanting to wear right now for maximum support and comfort. I am all about comfort with a capital 'C'.
I am super into these shoes from Comfortiva. This brand uses a pillowtop memory foam footbed which not only makes these shoes comfortable but allows them to absorb shock which reduces impact and maintains proper foot support. I walked around downtown all afternoon in them without even the slightest bit of discomfort.
For a long time, I was wearing only tennis shoes (hello granny!). But as the weather gets nicer, I am going to want some sandals that I can wear with a dress, so I am super excited about these shoes. They are really easy to slip on an off, which will be necessary as this bump grows.
Pair these gladiators with a lightweight wrap dress + tassel earrings, and there you have my spring capsule wardrobe.
Any body changes?
Oh my gosh, yes!! I am already showing! It's so nuts. With Winter no-one at work even knew I was pregnant until I told them at 17 weeks and I didn't have a bump until 20-weeks! I am in that, "did she eat too many burritos or is that a baby bump" stage, but I swear I will be popping before I know it.
Melasma! I got a few dark skin spots towards the end of my pregnancy with Winter, and already, they have come back! I cannot believe how quickly my body has recognized this pregnancy.
I stated this above, but my ligament pain is off the charts. I often feel like my ankles and knees are connected to my body by a toothpick. Doesn't feel good when you spend most of your day on the floor with your busy toddler and have to get up!
Maternity Clothes?
Already bypassing some of my skinny jeans in the closet, but for the most part, everything fits still. I typically unbutton the top button when I am around the house and wear long shirts to cover it.
Sleep?
I feel like I have slept the first 12 weeks with this baby. I am so grateful that Perry has consistently got up with Winter if she wakes up in the middle of the night and every morning so I can sleep in a little longer.
What are you looking forward to?
Getting the genetics results of the baby back. I just keep praying this baby is healthy. Also, I look forward to eating well again. I swear this baby is part mac and cheese.
Gender?
Nope! Call us crazy, but we aren't finding out the gender. We didn't with Winter and decided to make it a surprise again.
Food cravings or aversions?
I have had days where I can't eat anything but saltine crackers and days where I eat an entire box of macaroni and cheese. I am all about the carbs. The more bagels, the better! Especially those asiago bagels.
I cannot for the life of me swallow my prenatal vitamins. I had to get the gummy version because the pills make me gag. I also can't stomach meat, particularly chicken.
